Meet the duo behind a new one-of-a-kind biker business in central Macclesfield.

Geared 2 Go is a new independent motorcycle clothing boutique and café.

The shop and pit stop is co-owned by pals Anthony Mycock and Leah Woodward.

They used to work together at another local biking business, and decided to craft a niche of their own in the industry.

"Geared 2 Go is a motorbike accessory store and boutique," said Anthony.

"We decided to open in Macclesfield due to the location. It is renowned for being a great biking area, you've got rolling hills and Peak District on your doorstep.

"Every point on the compass you can leave Macclesfield and go somewhere gorgeous."

"So far, I think it has turned out into one of the best decisions we have ever made," said Leah.

"Friday, Saturday and Sunday are really busy in the shop. And we also organise events during the week. We recently met a group here and went on a ride to The Harrington Arms and then we all got food after.

"There's a huge social element to the business. In the biker community, word of mouth is very important."

"We've grown our business through Facebook and Instagram initially, but have been hosting more events recently as the weather gets nicer like group ride outs.

Many years ago, bikers would head over to The Cat and Fiddle pub and have a few drinks. But now the culture has changed, and now coffee is the new beverage that has become the biker's choice.

They are the only stockists of Snakebite Coffee in Macclesfield, which gives their coffee a tough and punchy flavour suitable for the biker who'll be drinking it.

"We've got a lot of people who come back just for the coffee, some of them aren't even bikers", confessed Leah.

"We're also stocking locally-baked cakes, as we want to support other local businesses."

"If you come through the door, we've got everything a biker could want, and can get you everything you need," said Anthony.

"We want you to leave in good quality gear that will last you a lifetime. We personally cherrypick all of our products, and want them to look good as well."

Products for sale include air jackets (fit for biking in hotter countries), classic designer leather getups, and colourful helmets.

"We believe in the value of returning customers on the strength of us", said Leah.

They have also raised hundreds for a national mental health charity in their first months of business. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

"The biking scene is a very personality driven game. If you are boring and you can't keep their attention, they are not going to want to go there again.

"We've had someone from Wales drive here already, who just wanted to check us out. One of Anthony's friends came all the way from Australia to check us out.

"We've had people come in and say 'thank God you guys have come here, we needed something in Macclesfield like this'."

As well as buying gear and hot drinks, there's plenty more to do at Geared 2 Go.

To the right of the shop entrance is a garage. It has room to park at least 30 bikes, and also has a photo board great for taking Instagram photos.

The shop also has biking shows on TV for your entertainment, and a PlayStation 4 where motocross games are very popular.

Some of the shop fittings are even made from old bike parts which would have gone to landfill otherwise.

As well as building up a banterous rapport with their regulars, Geared 2 Go is also a welcoming hub for new and non-bikers.

Despite being only a few months months old, the business is also striving to raise money for charity, and will do so with the help of their community.

Their next monthly bike night is on April 26, at an event in partnership with Macclesfield's Thorneycroft Solicitors.

They are located on 1 Lowe St, Macclesfield SK11 7NJ.
