Reports Macclesfield MP was egged at the weekend
There was a celebration for Macclesfield FC's second successive promotion on Market Place at the weekend.
The event took place from 12:30pm, saw the Silkmen celebrate with fans outside Macclesfield Town Hall.
However, it was as the celebrations began to subsidise that an incident said to involve Macclesfield MP David Rutley occurred.
It is believed that Mr Rutley was hit with an egg at the event.
Unverified witness reports suggest that "a hooded individual" threw the food and shouted expletives before leaving the scene. Witnesses state was then escorted down Chestergate.
Macclesfield Nub News contacted Cheshire Police for comment, where it appears no action has been taken.
"At around 3.15pm on Sunday 23 April police were made aware of reports of an assault at a football parade in Macclesfield town centre.
"It was reported that an unknown person had thrown an egg at the back of the victim's head.
"Officers quickly attended the scene and conducted a search of the local area but there was no trace of the suspect.
"The victim was uninjured as a result of the incident and enquiries remain ongoing.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101, or at www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, quoting IML 1530778."
The former Food Supplies Minister has been Macclesfield's MP since 2010.
Mr Rutley and his team has been contacted for comment.
