Prospective Macclesfield MP takes up shop in the town

A man who wants to be Macclesfield's next MP has promoted his campaign on the high street.

Tim Roca, the Labour candidate in the next General Election, has temporarily rented out a retail unit on Mill Street, to promote his campaign.

He has opted to advertise his campaign on 36 Mill Street, last occupied by independent clothes shop The Wardrobe before the moved just around the corner to Queen Victoria Street in November

The unit is next to another empty shop, and is just opposite the street from The Hub (the long vacant former M&S unit).

Tim Roca was contacted by Macclesfield Nub News for comment, about his temporary occupation of this unit.

As of last year, the retail unit was on the market for a rent of £25,000 per annum. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"For the first time the polls show there is a real chance of beating the Conservatives here in Macclesfield," he said.

"With our campaign ramping up and more volunteers joining us all the time, we now need a base in the town centre.

"I'm proud to be from the Macclesfield area and if given the privilege to represent my home, I will bang the drum for our communities, rebuilding our public services and tackling the climate emergency."

The campaign could occupy the office as an MP Surgery, if they win. (Image - Tim Roca MP)

"The Labour office is an indication that we are serious about winning here in Macclesfield and delivering for our communities."

Of course, should they not win the election, scheduled to take place no later than January 2025, it would not be used as a future MP surgery.
