SENIOR BOOKKEEPER MACCLESFIELD 35000 - 38000PA

MON TO FRI 9AM - 5PM Parking, Pension, 25 days holiday + bank

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their growing team. The Senior Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial transactions and records of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. Reporting directly to the Practice Manager, the Senior Bookkeeper will also provide mentorship to junior staff and contribute to the overall efficiency of the bookkeeping department.

Bookkeeping and Financial Management:

Manage and maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients, including day-to-day bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and ledger management. Prepare and review financial statements Process and manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly. Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations. Monitor and manage cash flow for clients, providing regular reports and insights to support their financial decision-making.

Client Relationship Management:

Serve as the primary point of contact for allocated clients, addressing their bookkeeping queries and providing financial insights as needed. Conduct regular reviews of client accounts Support the Practice Manager in onboarding new clients, ensuring a smooth transition and setup of financial systems.

Team Leadership and Mentorship:

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior bookkeepers, helping them develop their skills and improve their performance. Review the work of junior staff, providing constructive feedback Assist in training and developing the bookkeeping team

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Ensure that all bookkeeping practices comply with relevant legal requirements and industry standards. Conduct regular audits of client accounts to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies or areas for improvement. Keep up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and best practices

Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare detailed financial reports and statements for clients, providing clear analysis and insights into their financial performance. Assist clients with budgeting and forecasting, helping them to plan and manage their finances effectively.

Technology and Systems Management:

Utilise bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) to manage client accounts efficiently. Identify opportunities to improve processes through the use of technology Assist in the implementation of new software and tools within the bookkeeping team

Qualifications and Experience: A relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA). .Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, in a multi-client managing role. Strong knowledge of bookkeeping practices, including VAT, payroll, and financial reporting. .Proficiency in bookkeeping software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
