Brand new opportunity for a skilled chemist to join a leading pharmaceutical organisation and assist in the manufacture of drug substances for a "big pharma" company.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow detailed drug substance manufacturing instructions inc. solid/liquid charging, reaction workups, crystallisations and waste management
  • Carry out HPLC, KF and GC in-process analysis of drug substance batches to monitor reaction progress and completion

Candidate profile:

  • Minimum 2.1 BSc Chemistry or similar
  • At least 12 months' experience in a pharmaceutical or speciality chemical environment
  • Sound knowledge of fundamental Chemistry theory
  • Knowledge of HPLC, GC, and/or Karl Fisher

Previous experience in a pilot plant is highly desirable!

This role consists of 12-hour shifts, with a mixture of day and night shifts, working on a 3 week cycle as follows: Week 1: DDNNR, Week 2: RRDDD, Week 3: NNRRR (D = Day, N = Night, R = Rest) - averaging a 36 hour working week. There is a £5,000 shift allowance associated with this position in addition to your basic salary.
