A Macclesfield animator and his friends have produced a short film about the pandemic, through the lens of our household pets.
Goodbye Corona is a three-minute movie from the view of our dogs and cats, set in the future when the world is free of coronavirus restrictions.
Macclesfield resident Emric Snelson came up with the concept for the video.
"Our idea was; when COVID finally goes away, we will all be glad for the world to return to normal... all except our pets," he said.
"They have enjoyed the extra walks, attention, and company that lockdown brought to them.
"We wanted to tell their side of the story with our original track and push our animation skills further than what we originally knew."
The short, which can be viewed above, has over 600 views on YouTube.
Emric explained how he came up with the concept for the film.
"It was Jan 2021, and lockdown two was in full whack, I was at home with the family, and our dog.
"Harvey was sprawled across the sofa, his head resting in my mum's lap, chewing on one of his numerous toys he had for Christmas, spoilt doesn't come close to describing that pooch!
"The idea hit, what is he going to be like when COVID goes away and we all return to normal life? no more 24/7 attention, no three to five walks a day, no friends in the house.
"This was the start of the process, but boy was I not prepared for the work that was about to hit!
"I assembled a team of eight artists from all over the UK.
"I knew a few already, Alex Davoodi, my Assistant director, linked me up with Ashley, our songwriter, and from there, we kept collecting artists through our own connections and one another.
"The production crew as a whole covers most of the UK. Macclesfield, Jodrell Bank, Oldham, Manchester, Essex, London center-ish, Sussex, Cardiff, oh, and Nahid... all the way in Bangladesh! "
The team have a continued working relationship thanks to this and are continuing to grow an identity together.
The animated film was created with the aim to be made with zero budget, and virtually without meeting in person because of the pandemic.
Emric added: "The animation process took a total of five months, prior to that we had two months of storyboarding, and an earlier two months of songwriting and concepting (February - October).
"We have entered it into the BAA awards and are looking to keep pushing it further.
"As a collective, we have learned so much and are proud of how well we all worked as a team.
"Thank you to anyone from Macclesfield who has watched the piece."
