A Macclesfield pop-up store celebrating Pride Month will last longer than June, as you can visit it until July 10.

Despite being founded in only June 2018, and becoming a charity in September 2019, the organisation are able to have an - albeit temporary - physical presence in the town.

Macc Pride is located in the centre of the Grosvenor Centre, next door to Greggs.

It is open mid-week from 12-4:30pm. On Saturday's it is open from 10am-4:30pm, but for this Sunday's Treacle Market week it will be open from around 10am-3pm.

The centre which celebrates the LGBTQ+ community was attended by the Mayor of Macclesfield this week.

Councillor Mayor David Edwardes said: "Please do look in. I promise you will enjoy it."

The temporary retail space has art displays from children of local schools, resources, and a treasure hunt for families for free.

There is also Macc Pride t-shirts to purchase for £10, and masks, which are currently out of stock.

There is also a Macclesfield Pride Rainbow Raffle for anyone to enter, and tickets are just £1.

The winners can receive prizes such as a two tickets to Macclesfield in October music festival, a Superbowl UK Macclesfield Family Bowling Pass, and a two course Sunday lunch at The Plough Inn.

The most valuable prize in the Macc Pride Rainbow Raffle is a two-night lodge break supplied by Chestergate estate agents Henbury Travel.

There is also an invitation to spot a 'Pug of Pride' located in Macclesfield locations, as the non-profit's way of helping businesses in the pandemic.

Macclesfield Pride Committee member and transwoman Kay added:

"I honestly firmly believe that the way to make things equal in this world is visibility," said Kay.

"If people understand that we are just ordinary people, hopefully we can break down a lot of prejudices in this world.

"You do not have to be part of the LGBTQ+ community to attend, because we obviously want people to try and understand where we are coming from from our point of view.

"Please come down, have a chat with us, take away a freebie, and enjoy Macc Pride."

As well as being the closing date for the pop-up, July 10 will also see MaccPride Out & About take place.

The Macclesfield event will comply with COVID-19 restrictions and aim to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and small local businesses.

Pride Month is held in June, but it is great to see the diversity-celebrating party in Macclesfield go on for longer until July 10.
