A King's School Macclesfield student has been going the extra mile for the NHS by volunteering to help those frontline health staff who he says "inspire" him.
Ollie Gandy, 17, a sixth former at the school, had been volunteering on the wards of Macclesfield District General Hospital until the coronavirus pandemic hit, but that hasn't stopped him offering a helping hand.

A Bollington restaurant owner has described the break in and damage to his business as "disgraceful", particularly during this difficult time.
In the early hours of this morning (7th May) an intruder broke into Briscola Restaurant and Wine Bar on Palmerston Street, Bollington and smashed windows and doors in the premises.

Groundskeeping staff at the King's School Macclesfield have paid tribute to NHS workers with a massive sign saying 'Thank You' on the playing fields.
The tribute was the idea of Carl McCormack, the deputy head of the groundskeeping team at the school, who has been maintaining the playing fields while the school remains closed due to Covid-19.

A police drugs raid at two houses in the Upton Priory area of Macclesfield yesterday morning has led to the seizure of cannabis and the arrest of one man.
Police told Nub News that they "executed two warrants simultaneously" at addresses in Eaglais Way at around 8am.

A senior officer at Cheshire East Council has been poached by another local authority for the second time in just over four months.
Jan Bakewell, the council's Director of Governance and Compliance Services, will be moving to a position at St Helen's Council, according to an internal email seen by Nub News.
Council chiefs have approved 'one of the most ambitious' plans in the country centred on making Cheshire East carbon neutral by 2025.
The authority's cabinet approved an environment strategy to respond to the 'global threat' posed by climate change at its virtual meeting on Tuesday.
