Macclesfield Town Council are giving away free party packs to help people celebrate those who have been on the front line throughout the pandemic.

It is a way the Council and residents can say thank you to the NHS and Key Workers ahead of next month's anniversary celebrations.

July 5 marks the 73rd birthday of our National Health Service, and after this challenging pandemic year-and-a-half, the Macclesfield public are being encouraged to show their thanks.

The first NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers' Day takes place on July 5, which falls on a Monday this year, with will honour health workers with a series of events.

This will include the including raising of flags, a two minute silence at 11am, a post-lunch toast, street parties, afternoon tea and then applause and bell ringing later in the evening.

As the National event is on the 5th July which is a working day, Macclesfield Town Council are encouraging people to hold small garden or street parties on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th July.

To help with the party planning the Town Council have produced party packs filled with ideas on how to make your event special along with some great little surprises.

Abi Sherratt, Events and Communications Officer at Macclesfield Town Council said "This last year has been very hard, and the Town Council fully support the NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers Day as a way for everyone in the town to show our gratitude.

"We are aware that restrictions may change, but even if we are only allowed to mix outside in small bubbles, people will still be able to have a garden party with close family or friends, or meet up with their neighbours.

"We encourage people get a free party pack if they can and use the ideas for their parties."

Party Packs are available on a first come first served basis from several locations within Macclesfield, at a variety of difference times in the run up to the event.

Despite July 4 being a few weeks away, you can still display your party pack on your window, front door, or inside your house before the event.

The national event hopes to raise money for two excellent causes – NHS Charities Together, which supports 250 hospitals and their charitable trusts, and the National Care Association, representing 1.6 million workers caring for some of society's frailest citizens.

If every Macclesfield household, business, school and organisation raised just £5 on the day, it would make a massive difference to these amazing causes.

Macclesfield Nub News commends the initiative, and believes the NHS deserve all the support they need from their tireless work during the pandemic.
