A young mother from the Priory end of Macclesfield has won over £1090, thanks to the annual Christmas Cab competition for 2021.

Rebecca Byram was announced as the winner of Cheshire Silk 106.9 and Silvertown Taxi's Christmas contest, after being nominated by her father for the amazing work she has done over the last year.

As well as looking after her children, Rebecca had been caring for her mother who sadly passed away last August. On top of this, she also raised £1000 for The Christie Macclesfield doing the Walk of Hope.

She received the prize, a Silvertown cab full of Christmas goodies, in the early hours of Christmas Eve.

"I was taken aback by winning this award and tried my best not to cry," she said.

"2021 was the worst year of my life after losing my mum but winning the Christmas Cab finished off the year on a bright note, so thank you so much to Silvertown Taxis", Rebecca said after receiving her prizes.

Silvertown Taxis linked up with Cheshire Silk 106.9 and many other Macclesfield businesses this December in order to make this competition possible.

Using the radio station to ask those in our community to nominate loved ones that they thought deserved the award.

"We had an incredible response and were amazed by the inspiring people who we were recommended.

"There's many heroes from our community that we don't hear about, and they all deserve recognition." Said a spokesman from Silvertown Taxi.

The team at Silvertown are already looking forward to the competition next year.
