There's a brand new menu for a Macclesfield restaurant.

Nomas Gastrobar, which opened in 2021, have introduced their biggest-ever menu update.

In January, the Chestergate venue made the "...difficult yet necessary decision to introduce a thoughtfully curated selection of high-quality, responsibly sourced meat and dairy options to our menu."

The previously-vegan only eatery made the decision to preserve the future of the business, and jobs they provide.

Now, the new menu has been launched for the people of Macclesfield and beyond to try.

Many of the vegan breakfast, brunch and lunch items that were on the menu before are still here, with diners able to have the choice to have meat with it or not.

For example, their vegan jackfruit gyros can be now be enjoyed with a chicken or pork version. Meanwhile, their lunch menu has two meat and two vegan burger options.

Macclesfield Nub News met with Adonis for a chat.

"Since the announcement and the introduction of the new menu, we found out a lot of our customers are not vegan. But they still choose the non-meat dishes," said Adonis.

"We have kept the same type of quality, the same big portions that we do. Even with the price increase, we did not shrink our portions. Our prices are very competitive.

"We haven't done the numbers on everything yet, but we are very happy to see new faces coming in because of the meat and dairy options.

"We are at the point where we are starting to build our customer base."

The new menu has also leant in on more of Adonis' Athenian heritage, with Dolmadas and Greek walnut cake being new additions to the menu.

So Maxonians can relive the taste of their Greek holidays on their doorstep.

Greek food has been lacking in Macclesfield since the closure of Aristo in the pandemic.

"Gyros have been the best-seller on the new menu, it was already the best-seller before, but now that we have three gyros to choose from, it sells twice as much as anything else," revealed Adonis.

The menu is three times as large as it was before, by offering meat and catering to more tastes.

Adonis is a vegan himself, but his staff are not, so they have taste-tested the new menu.

The meat and dairy products are kept in a separate fridge to the vegan ingredients.

Their juice menu has also seen a new makeover.

"Even before we launched the new menu, just with the announcement that we were going to do it and the reasons we pointed out, we saw a massive impact from our local community," added Adonis.

Following some negative online reviews and reception to the changes, Adonis says the people of Macclesfield are fond of the new menu. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"They hugged us, they said they came here to help the business, and we have seen more delivery orders.

"We have had people from further afar sending messages saying they are here for us, not just as a business, but mentally as well.

"We are really thankful for that. They have really embraced and helped the situation."

They are also hiring for a new barista and chef soon. The family-owned business is open seven days a week.

"I would like to say the people who live in Macclesfield should support their independent businesses," Adonis also said.

"Because we care for the people, we care for the quality, and the customer experience,

"If I close down completely, so many people are going to be without jobs, which is something I care about."

The menu launch day saw a 25% off discount, and a new permanent discount has been introduced, customers that pay with cash can receive 10% off their meal.

As well as their third birthday, April will also mark one year since the business renamed itself to Nomas Gastrobar.
