Welcome to Freshwalks and our first Sunrise event in Macclesfield Forest. We invite you to join us for some uphill, early morning walking before hopefully witnessing a glorious sunrise from the summit of Shutlingsloe which towers above Macclesfield Forest and the Cheshire countryside below

Trentabank Reservoir - Macclesfield Forest - Shutlingsloe - Trentabank Reservoir

GRADE: MEDIUM

DISTANCE: 7.5km

MAX ELEVATION: 506m.

We intend to start the walk from Trentabank Reservoir car park at 06:45. You can either drive and meet us there or catch a train from Manchester Piccadilly at 06:10, passing Stockport at 06:18 and arriving at Macclesfield 06:31. We'll organise taxi-sharing for the 10-15 mins transfer subject to rules at the time.

As we start this walk in the dark, you will need to bring a torch (ideally a headtorch), wear warm layered clothing and either walking boots or shoes.

You'll also need to bring your own drinking water, perhaps some breakfast and a flask of something hot for when we stop to enjoy the sunrise view just before 08:00. We should arrive back at the start between 09:30 and 10:00.
