5:30 - 6:30pm, online with the Silk Museum, Macclesfield.

Mary Schoeser gives an overview of the development of silk weaving in and around London from about 1600 until the early 1900s, looking in particular at the innovative material and technical changes to silks in response to changing tastes and marketing opportunities.

Revealing parallels with Macclesfield in the development of diversity as a means of survival, while illustrating some seldom-seen examples from 19th century sample books held in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
