Congratulations Greg and Anna!
Congratulations Greg and Anna!

A Macclesfield pair have biked through Britain to raise money and awareness for Palestine.

Anna and Greg Hughes pedalled from Whitehaven to Tynemouth, which is an 129.5 - 137 mile route.

The cyclists tandem bike challenge has seen them fundraise £1,605 for The Amos Trust.

Anyone know them?

Macclesfield Nub News reached out to Anna, to find out how it went.

"We're a little tired, but very pleased to have cycled all the way from Whitehaven on the west coast to Tynemouth on the east coast on our tandem in three days," said Anna.

"It was a fantastic experience cycling with 50 other people, and we're very proud that we weren't the slowest in the group!

They biked with 50 other people.

"Raising money for The Amos Trust gave us the motivation to keep going when the hills seemed impossibly long and steep.

"The Amos Trust fight for justice and hope for people who are often forgotten in the world - street children, those suffering because of climate change and the people of Palestine."

Their goal was to raise £1500, so they have exceeded their goal by £105, and you can still donate via this link

"The second day was particularly tough. Lots of hills, some very steep, and awfully wet weather. We were very pleased to arrive at our accommodation that evening," recalled Anna.

Anna, who works as a homeopath in Macclesfield by trade, also organise events and vigils at Macc4Pal, Macclesfield's Palestinian solidarity group.

"Thank you, we're really grateful to everyone who's sponsored us," added Anna.

"Lots of people have done this challenge, but we're currently the second highest fundraisers in the group - can you help us be at the top of the leaderboard? The group as a whole has raised over £9000 for people suffering injustice across the world.

"We're very grateful for the support you give us at Nub News and for helping us to let more people know about the issues that Palestinians face."
