Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire have been out on the road recently bringing their water safety talks to Macclesfield.

With a maiden stop at the town's famous Treacle Market in January, Puddle the Duck received a warm welcome from the community, where the swim school enjoyed meeting local families and sharing details of the water safety elements they incorporate into their classes.

Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire made a return to the town last week, delivering their water safety talks to local children at both Whirley Pre and Primary School, as well as Park Royal Primary School.

Never too pool for school, Puddle the Duck alongside the rest of the team, kept the children engaged with interactive elements that were both educational and fun.

The initiative aims to promote water safety to the local community throughout the year, but especially providing education ahead of the summer months, a time in the UK when deaths by drowning hit their peak, particularly throughout July. Drowning is also amongst the 10 leading causes of death for children, making raising awareness of water safety imperative for Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire.

Commenting on the visit to Macclesfield, Rachel Bateson of Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire said: "We had such a warm welcome from the Macclesfield community at Treacle Market, we just had to return for a second time! It's so important for children to understand water safety and we do this in a way that is age appropriate and keeps it fun, such as floating like a starfish and treading water like a duck!"

They also do sessions at swimming pools in Macclesfield.

Katy Mooney, Pre School-Manager at Whirley Pre School said: "The Puddle Ducks team provided a fun, interactive and informative session on water safety for our Pre-School children. The children had lots of fun and really enjoyed meeting Puddle".

Mike Carew, Deputy Head Teacher at Whirley Primary School added: "Thank you very much to the Puddle Ducks team for such a great assembly. The children obviously loved meeting Puddle and the character helped ensure the children were fully engaged in the assembly. Charlotte had a lovely rapport with the children; all were keen to listen to the very important messages she gave about water safety. There was a really good balance between adult presentation and child participation. Keep up the great work!".

Puddle Ducks provides award winning swimming classes for children from birth to 10 years old. Teachers focus on creating a nurturing environment, which supports independent swimming for children of all abilities.
