A young man in Macclesfield has been promoted, as he has impressed on his apprenticeship so much.

Daniel Edge, who has just passed his level 3 qualification in Business Administration, has subsequently been promoted at a Macclesfield estate agents.

Dan started with Church Street estate agents Holden & Prescott Macclesfield on work experience in 2021.

Initially, Dan just worked weekends, Holden & Prescott is unique to some estate agents due to their weekend operation (as well as a full service during the week).

Dan then moved up as an apprentice working five days a week whilst studying for his level 3, a position he has held until this month.

His hard work has paid off and he has now been appointed as a fully fledged sales negotiator with Holden & Prescott and has been described as 'a great addition to the sales team'.

Will Prescott, co-founder of Holden & Prescott, couldn't be prouder of Dan.

"Dan joined us on work experience, giving up his Saturday's to come into the office in order to get a taste of the estate agency business," said Will.

"A big ask for a 16 year old giving up his Saturday's!

"He quickly proved his reliability and hard work and so we were happy to offer him an apprenticeship with us whilst he also studied for his Business Administration level 3 qualification.

"I am pleased, though not at all surprised that all of his hard work and dedication has since paid off as he has now passed his course with flying colours and is the proud recipient of a business administration certificate."

"I'm a great supporter of apprenticeship schemes," continued Will.

"As it allows businesses to develop and nurture talent not just for today but more importantly for the future. Therefore, I was delighted to recently appoint Dan as a fully-fledged sales negotiator, further strengthening and enhancing our busy Sales Team."

Holden and Prescott has been going since 1998. That is older than Daniel!

Dan is one of five staff part of the Holden & Prescott (H&P) sales team. The independent estate agents also have more staff on the lettings side.

Macclesfield Nub News reached out to Daniel himself to hear what he had to say.

"I was over the moon and very relieved to have passed the course and it was great to receive my certificate to prove it," he said.

"The reaction of my H&P colleagues was amazing. To be honest, I'm now glad to be out of the education system with a qualification and to be on the career ladder."

Senior Sales Negotiator Fiona Dodd, who has been with the property experts since its founding year, is elated with Daniel's achievements.

"It's been lovely watching Dan develop his role from his early days on work experience into a very competent member of our Sales Team, and in such a short space of time too," said Fiona.

"He has developed good relationships with our clients due to his diligent and professional approach and he is popular and well liked by all of his colleagues - a great reflection of his attributes."

Dan hails from the Greenside area of Macclesfield and went to Fallibroome High School.

"The thing I love about working at Holden and Prescott is the fantastic team we have across the board," added Dan.

"I've learnt so much from them, in particular from Will Prescott who gave me the opportunity in the first place. Equally, I love the contact we have with our clients and being part of the process of selling a house from beginning to completion. The property industry is never dull."

His apprenticeship scheme was run through Macclesfield College.

He had this advice to his fellow young people.

"I would definitely recommend apprenticeships to anyone as it offers the opportunity to get some real hands-on, real time experience of that particular industry. Something you don't get in the classroom alone so it has been really invaluable to me," he explained.

"I think Holden and Prescott are best at what they do because of the great teamwork that has been engendered over the years and this filters through into everything we do. I know that this is a really important to Will Prescott himself who encourages that teamwork spirit. I think the fact we have many returning customers shows how well it works."

A further statement on the Holden & Prescott website also said: "As testament to his hard work and dedication, Dan has recently gained his level 3 in Business Administration which he achieved alongside his practical apprenticeship with Holden & Prescott."

"We are now delighted to be able to appoint Dan as a full time sales negotiator, thus further strengthening the busy Holden and Prescott sales team. We are in no doubt that Dan has a successful career ahead of him."
