A £1.4M project to protect a pharmaceuticals site in Macclesfield and ensure its sensitive manufacturing systems can operate around the clock has been completed.
AstraZeneca invested in the new high voltage electrical facility to further protect the security of its manufacturing campus in the town and ensure it can continue to operate, even in the event of disruption to its power supply.

Firefighters are warning residents to be aware of the devastating consequences of fires in open spaces following an increase in incidents across Cheshire, including one at Macclesfield Forest.
Since 1 March there have been 17 incidents across Cheshire involving buildings, vehicles and outdoor structures where the main cause was listed as a bonfire out of control or intentional burning out of control.

A fitness academy is hoping to get 1,000 Macclesfield residents to take part in a virtual exercise session to help get people moving and motivated.
The Academy Group Transformation Centre, which is based on Waterside Mill, hope the event can provide a boost to people's mental health as well as their fitness.
Cheshire East Council has today (28 May) launched a £4.28m discretionary fund to support small businesses in Macclesfield and across the borough.
The scheme will be open for applications from Monday (1 June) at 8am. The council is asking prioritised businesses that think they may be eligible, to prepare their evidence in advance – as allocation will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

An anonymous philanthropist has donated £350,000 to The King's School to replicate their iconic cricket field in front of the new school on Alderley Road, Prestbury.
The new facility will be named 'The Wilson Field' to honour Ian Wilson, 73, who for 50 years has inspired generations of King's cricketers.
