Macclesfield Arts Society March Lecture
Macclesfield Methodist Church, Westminster Road
Arts & Crafts
UNTIL Thursday 13th March

The next Macclesfield Arts Society lecture will take place on Thursday 13 March at 2.00 pm. Writer and broadcaster Gavin Plumley is this month's guest lecturer and he will talk on Bauhaus: Idea and Reality.
Founded in 1919 in Weimar, the Bauhaus was a progressive art school. And, under the directorship of architect Walter Gropius, its students studied a broad range of artistic disciplines.
The Bauhaus lasted over a 14-year period, with bases in Weimar, Dessau and Berlin, and during this time it not only came to typify an age but also dictate matters of style for decades to come, through its art, architecture and design.
The lecture will look at some of the movers and shakers behind this hugely influential movement, including Marianne Brandt, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer, as well as exploring their legacy in our world and homes today.
Gavin Plumley has appeared on BBC Radio as well as contributing to newspapers, magazines and opera and concert programmes around the world.
Non-members are always welcome at our lectures £10 on the door.
