Macclesfield: Less than a week for parties to register interest in Morton Hall

There is just over five days left for prospective tenants to come forward with their interest for the future of Morton Hall Community Centre.
The Union Road public building, which used to host private events and evening classes, was previously reported as being available at the start of July.
This was because the retiring committee could not find anyone to come forward and preserve the site's purpose as a bookable volunteer-led building.
Now building-owners Cheshire East Council have confirmed the next steps for the historic east Macclesfield building.
A Cheshire East Council spokesperson said: "The tenant served notice on the council to end their occupation of this building and the council understands that the hall will be closed for bookings from 31 July 2022.
"The council is currently inviting expressions of interest in the hall, Naturally, we hope that a new prospective tenant will come forward. There is a deadline of 29 July for expressions of interest to be received by the council and we will then market the property accordingly."
Expressions of interest should be forwarded in writing by Friday 29 July to: [email protected]. The centre could also be bought outright.
Details can be accessed via the council's website at For Sale Commercial (cheshireeast.gov.uk).
The 200-capacity venue was originally built for Hovis mill workers to socialise, and was completed in 1940.
It has multiple rooms, including underground, initially intended as a bomb shelter during the Second World War.
